We first visited these parks by trading our Park City timeshare for Jackson, WY. We revisited when we wanted to return. In some years, it was challenging getting to Jackson. So, we also stayed in Island Park and Bozeman. In later years, we tried to return every five years. On occasion, when we there for more than a week, we made some side trips to places that could be visited on a day trip. In 2011, we also visited Craters of the Moon National Monument and Cody, Wyoming. We are looking for pictures from early visits to these parks. Those are the times when we have more pictures of the geology. Our visits of the past few decades are primarily focused on wildlife.

Suzie was not able to get time off so Craig and Brian went north. Brian was four years old. These photos have a blue tint due to age and overcast skies.

It is important to stay on the walkways.

Brian and his then girlfriend, Brandi, were with us on this trip.
It was the third day of our visit to the parks when on the morning of the 11th, Suzie said one of the World Trade Center towers was on fire. I came out of the bedroom and we watched on TV and talked about how to put out a fire so high up. Then the second plane slammed into the other tower. The parks had heightened security. Foreign tourists gave us their condolences.
Jackson had already planned for a blood drive on the 11th. We listened to the local radio station in the car. At 10AM, they said that they had reached capacity for blood donations and asked people to not show up. The dark Jackson Hole Airport was eerie.

Grand Teton NP was a great place to see wildlife in 2005.

Due to the distance, it hard see the two wolves behind the herd of bison.

Now, that is what I call a closeup

This year we spent one week in Jackson and one week in Island Park. With the extra time we also visited Craters of the Moon NM and Cody, Wyoming. This was also the year of the grizzlies.

2016 was a wildfire year in both parks. We couldn't get into Jackson or Island Park so that year we stayed in Bozeman.

The little white dots are mountain goats.

The Lamar Valley wolf pack downed a bison. We arrived just after most of the pack left. The bigger brown spot is the bison. There are two gray spots, wolves, one behind the bison and one to the left. This was taken at max telephoto.

A little north of Fishing Bridge, this huge black bear, bigger than most grizzlies, was feeding on a downed elk in the river. The ranger said that he dominates the black bears in the area.

Pronghorn

The bison care little for traffic. They like to take their time on the roadways.

We now have a spotting scope. Even with the scope, it is hard to see this grizzly.
