East Coast USA 1981-1982

Craig was hired by American Express in 1981, working in New York City. He went to work there that summer. Suzie and Brian followed in September. We lived in Wayne, New Jersey and Craig commuted to Manhattan, typically by rail. We knew we were moving back to Salt Lake the next year. so we planned to see as much of the east coast as we could before the Traveler's Cheque Division moved to Salt Lake, but only when the weather was good. That meant we didn't go much in the winter, though Suzie and Craig caught a Broadway show, 42nd Street, at Christmas time. That was a cold day. Our first big adventure was Jones Beach. We did bigger trips later.

Morristown is not far from Wayne, where we lived. That made this a logical first visit. We were there for a reenactment of a Revolutionary War battle.

We went into Manhattan for the iconic holiday parade. As we were leaving, trying to get out of the parking lot, a woman looked at our license plate and very visibly mouthed UTAH?
