Queenstown 2017

It took a whole day to get to Queenstown. The first day was a tour of the area including: a sheepshearing demonstration,  Arrowtown, a lakes region where some scenes from the Lord of the Rings was filmed, the first bungee jump site in the world, and a winery. The next day was a bus ride to Milford Sound (actually a fiord). (See the button at the bottom of the page.) The last day was a Lord of the Rings film site tour by 4-wheel drive, with a side stop for gold panning.

The hill in the foreground is where Aragon fell in The Two Towers. The site where, carrying Frodo, Arwen stopped the ring wraiths with a flood. The river where the fellowship saw the Argonath statues (faces of Viggo Mortensen's father and grandfather).

A stop for gold panning. View of Queenstown from gondola restaurant.

The first bungee jump in the world is outside Queenstown: an above and below pic. A stop at the Gibston Valley Winery (and tasting).

A chinese gold miner home in Arrowtown. A Queenstown ski resort. An outdoor concert in Queenstown.
