Craig and Suzanne Kuehn
Our Family and Travels
After another 2 days on ship, we arrived at our final destination, Malaga. The Malaga bullring. Malaga was Picasso's hometown. We had our picture taken with him. And even in Malaga, everyone knows your name.
We sailed 2 days to get to Barcelona. We woke at sunrise. We could not get all of the city in one picture. The Gaudi designed Holy Family Cathedral seems to be in perpetual construction.
The next day, we tendered at Nice and toured Monaco. Our ship. Princess Grace's tomb in the Monaco cathedral. The Grand Casino in Monaco (no pictures allowed inside). The tourists could play roulette, blackjack, and/or slots. Suzie won big on a slot machine. Craig still has a 5 euro chip.
The next day was our 1st stop of the cruise and a tour of Pisa. The cathedral has 3 buildings: baptistry, cathedral proper, and the campanile (tower). All 3 buildings lean. The inside of the cathedral. The cathedral and the leaning tower.
We arrived in Rome on a Sunday. The tour stopped at the Vatican. It was the time for the Pope's Sunday address. This particular Sunday was when the Pope blessed motorcycles and scooters. St. Peter's Square was packed. The small white figure in the window above the red banner is Pope Benedict XVI. He spoke Italian and when he said something pleasing, all the bikes would rev their engines.
(l. to r.) The site of the ancient Roman hippodrome. The temple of Saturn. The Tiber River.
